Socioeconomic Overviews of National Marine Sanctuaries

The purpose of socioeconomic overviews for National Marine Sanctuaries is to provide the necessary background information on the local social and economic environment in which sanctuary management occurs. Additionally, the overviews are a first step in conducting socioeconomic impact analyses to provide a framework made up of the industrial makeup and demographic characterists of the local area. Although the overviews are generally part of the process of impact analyses, they may also be viewed as stand alone documents which can provide the necessary background for a variety of applications.
